Daddy Daughter Dance

Image
Two weeks ago Troy and Missa went to their very first Daddy Daughter Dance for our church. If you know Troy well enough... he really doesn't like to dance and especially in PUBLIC.  I have to push to get him to dance anywhere!  He will however dance when our families are doing dance competitions on the WII. Phew, thanks goodness. I think Missa had fun.  She has taken in her father's footsteps and doesn't like to dance either.  But luckily my friend who was in charge planned some games and other fun activities for all personality types to enjoy.

Snow Week

This week started out like a totally normal week... then BAM.  Monday we got out of school early and snow/ice came.  Here it is Saturday and we haven't been back to school YET.  Some days were definite snow days... others not so much.  So what did we do and what happened?   1. Pre-Valentine's Activity

Image
Since Christmas these boys have been playing well together.  They have been wrestling, throwing balls, playing cars and just being boys.  There are still times where they BOTH get hurt from each other but for the most.... they BOTH love it.  Here they are throwing balls.  Last weekend on Friday I had a night alone with the 4  youngest when Troy and Missa went to our church's Daddy-daughter Dance.  Missa made this dollhouse ALL by herself one day after school.  Snack time/homework time after school. Speech Appraxia - Jare Bear has this.  We have known that he might have this for about 3 years.  Some people wonder what is it and how does it affect him?   Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder. Children with CAS have problems saying sounds, syllables, and words. This is not because of muscle weakness or paralysis. The brain has problems planning to move the body parts (e.g., lips, jaw, t...

Stargazing Night

Image
Tonight Troy started to take the kids outside.  At first I didn't know what he was doing and then realized... The stars were beautiful as well as the weather, he was going stargazing!  We got our jackets, blankets and pillows.  Half of the kids were scared out of their mind b/c of the darkness.  Missa hated being on the end (even though she was right next to daddy), Jare Bear hated the pitch black, Crazy A and Jacolena were fine and Big D was fine after about 5 minutes.   The stars were absolutely amazing!  It reminded me of when I was 15 and traveling across the country my family through Yellowstone. We stopped at Beartooth Pass (NE entrance) and we were up 12,000 feet.  We could see the entire Milky Way Galaxy from horizon to horizon.  Breathtaking.    We kept telling the kids, this is what it will be like when we are camping.  Missa says,"No it will be different b/c when we camp we will be in a tent and have something ...

Back to a "norm" after 2 weeks of sickness

Image
Two weeks ago when it was really nice outside and some of my kids were sick, they played "camping" on the trampoline.  It was kind of nice...except for the cleanup. Bed hair one morning for Missa. Family Home Evening  Daddy was in charge this particular night - building things with toothpicks and gumdrops.  Eating the gum drops at first was the fun.  Building a house. Building a rocket.  Not sure what she is building. Big D building suckers to "eat".  Missa was trying to build a temple but she got frustrated before I got a pictures  Our pet chickens holding perfectly still to be "petted" School Assemblies  Missa received the Best Effort Award.  It wasn't easy sitting through two different Assemblies with two kids.  I did it last year with the youngest four and it was horrible.  I hope the kids appreciate in years to come the sacrifices I make to come to t...
