Putting up a 12 ft Christmas Tree

Image
Birthday stuff from School It isn't easy putting up a 12 ft Christmas Tree.  Two boxes, 6 tree layers and a ladder later… we got it up. A little bit of vacumming to clear the area of the tree. Some hiding underneath Grandpa's legs too. And there it is… the tree is up.  Even if there are no ornaments or the leaves haven't been spread, it is an ordeal to get this monster up.  It even looks pretty good half way finished.

6th Birthday

"Missa" celebrated her 6th birthday last weekend.  Here is the cake I made from scratch with Gluten Free flour (Sorghum Flour, Brown rice flour and potato starch).  It was really good to my surprise.  It also has homemade cream cheese frosting. She got clothes, hair stuff, jewerly, jewerly boxes and shoes. We had Groupon tickets to Monkey Joes and I didn't want to use them with the other kids.  B/c we always get sick when we go there.  Troy thought of a good idea... have "Missa" go with 3 other friends for her birthday.  She did and had a blast!    Love the expression. It has been crazy busy around here.  I couldn't believe it had been over a week since I posted but with making food from scratch, sewing, laundry, taking care of kids, Missa's basketball practice and etcc... I find with my spare time I really don't want to get on the computer.  When I get on the computer I get tired and don't want to do anything.  I am ...

Thanksgiving 2012

Image
This year we had a lot of people over.  Of course our own family of 7, G&G Bart, the Coueys, the Tieks and the Halls.  Then we had my cousin Deron and his family (5), Les's parents, aunt & uncle and Troy's friend from work, Sayne.  We had 31 people, which isn't too bad but it is still a lot of people.  The apple pie that Troy made was DELICIOUS!!!! Troy and his friend from work (Sayne sp?).  Uncle Andy and cousin Ethan eating pie.  The mess of the kitchen right before we ate.  Crazy A playing with Ethan and the blocks. Troy feel asleep hard after everyone left.  He had worked 5 or 6 days straight in a row at night.  The kitchen got cleaned up very nicely by Grandpa. Isn't it funny how a 2 and 5 year old can navigate on electronics just as good as us adults.

Baby D 8 week checkup

Image
This little guy is 2 months old.  I love him at this stage, he is sleeping good at night, starting to get into a nice feeding schedule (5:30, 8:30, 11:30, 2:30, 5:30, 8:30, of course give or take by 30 minutes).  It is sooo nice!!!  He takes a bottle every day to every other day.  He is smiling, cooing, trying to talk. eating his hands and loves to be wrapped up tight in his blankets.  He also has gray/blue eyes... I thought they were brown but no!!!  He loves to watch the other kids and he is glued to me.  He knows when I leave the house and won't be happy till I get back. Here are his stats: Weight: 11.3 lbs (20th %) Length: 22.75 inches (30th %) Head Circum: 38.5 inches (30th %) He probably would weigh more but they kids were sick and he got a slight cold from the rest of them.  So he slowed down a tiny bit on his feeding.  He also takes some Zantac to help with his reflux.  It isn't bad reflux just enough to make him comfort...

Forgotten Halloween Pict & Gluten Free Part 2

Image
Doctor Appts & Forgotten Halloween Pics. These past 4 weeks have been really busy with doctor appointments.  One after another and they just aren't stopping.  They range from well child checkups (twins and Baby D) to sick appts to speciality doctor appts.  I don't mind them at all, as long as I have back up plans and people to help watch the other kids (grandma, my sister Annie and some friends).  That is one of the REASONS we moved back to NC at this time in our life.  We knew we needed help in this area: Doctor appointments. Moving along.  The appointments have helped us seek some answers/or not about certain things: 1. How big Baby D is getting 2. Pink Eye keeps creeping in b/c kids won't stop picking their noses and then touching their eyes. ugh. 3. Ear infections are starting back with "Jare Bear" - one of the tubes just came out and i know surgery will be coming again soon. 4. Celiac Disease with the twins (Well we found out "Jaco...

Gluten Free?

Image
Yep, we are going Gluten Free.  Both of the twins in the past 7 months have been tested for Celiac Disease and tested postive.  We just found out about Jare Bear (Jacolena's testing was back in the spring) and we are going to start changing our diet.  Anyone have any good websites they recommend? I am not so keen on this b/c most nights it is really hard for me to even get dinner on the table whether I have planned ahead or not.  Usually Missa gets home from school @ 4:30pm, we are doing homework till almost 5pm, sometimes I have to nurse the baby right before dinner, the other three are crazy b/c they are getting hungry, Troy is usually just waking up from catching up on sleep (working at nights does that to you) and whatever else goes on and my parents are just busy too. I guess I am going to have to be more on top of planning dinners.   I have always been a great planner... but since having 5 small children my planning skills are still there but with...

Halloween Festivities

Last Sunday our family got together for a birthday and to carve pumpkins.  Originally we were going to carve pumpkins just with our family but we decided to combine a few things. Missa and Cousin Even started to "cut out" or plot their designs. Uncle Les holding Baby D.  Uncle Les loves babies. Elise, who loves to hold Baby D got some good babysitting practice in. Troy and Tessa getting the guts out of the pumpkins. Grandma Barbara came to visit for Halloween and helped get things started.  Missa and her pumpkin, "Boo".  Tessa carving her pumpkin.  The cupcake is being beautifully covered by Crazy A, you can tell by how much sprinkles are all over it. Grandpa Paul with a natural smile!~  Me, caught by surprise.  Jare Bear, Tessa & Crazy A, going thru picking out the seeds.  We needed to use the seeds for Missa's homework.  Cousin Hannah playing with her favorite toy at Grandma's - the baby stroller. Grandma Barbara came ...
