Memorial Day Party

Image
This past Memorial Day we had a party.  Most years my parents like to throw some sort of party (either Memorial Day, July 4th or Labor Day).  It depends on the weather meaning how hot has it been.  Last year they had a July 4th party and it was WAY too hot.  So this year it was moved up earlier to avoid the heat. We had gator rides going for about 2 hours after the eating. Leisure canoeing (My sister and her husband) Socializing with friends. (My mother and my niece) My sisters Annie's family with the LDS Missionaries.  The missionary on the right is being transferred to a different area. My sister Colette and her family with the same missionary. Of course you had to have some canoe "dumping".  This wasn't the only canoe to tip over.  There was at least 2 others.  Either from the canoer's error or the "sea monster" (my nephew, Grant). Here are three canoes racing.  I so thought the two on the left were going to c...

My sister: Annie's Birthday

Image
When we were in Utah getting together for birthdays was somewhat sporatic or it depended on the family.   With Troy's family we got together for most birthdays b/c we had less schedules to contend with and we would ususally spend the day with the family (an hour away).  With my siblings... there were more people and getting together for every single birthday just didn't happen.   Unless it was for one of the siblings then something was done. Here in NC it is a little different we are all much closer (within 20 minutes instead of 30 minutes or more).  But there are still lots of schedules to contend with.  We were lucky to get in and celebrate another birthday: Annie's.  They are busy but we all like to party. It was just a small cake and presents get together.  Annie's cake with beautifully decorated with towering candles and white iceing. Grandma and Grandpa there to help laugh as the candles were fired up about to burn the cake down. ...

Potty Training Rewards

Image
This past week I have been focusing on potty training "Jare Bear" for the third time.  I tried back in February and I just was too nauseous with the pregnancy to really follow through.  Then I tried for a few hours one of the first days we were in NC.  But I gave up b/c I was also focusing on "Crazy A". Bubbles night!!  "Jare Bear" didn't care to participate. For the past almost 3 weeks "Crazy A" is potty trained during the day.  At night she wets every so often but she has got it down.  Half of the time she doesn't even think of getting treats.   Now she is moving on I am focusing on one child (Jare Bear) it has been easier.  Two is too hard for me when I am pregnant.  At first he had forgotten the logistics of going pee pee.  Once the reminder came it has become much easier.  Although he will only go in the little portable potty's we have.  As a big reward and/or incentive we did two things: 1. Giving him M...

Cousin Trey's Wedding Preparations

Image
My Cousin Trey (Gandolph) is having his wedding reception @ my sister's house (Anne) on June 23rd?.  A lot of the family in NC has been helping out to get her yard prepared.  the Halls (Anne and Les) just moved into their home a year ago and are putting the yard in this spring.  It is a HUGE yard (1.5 acres) on a nice slope.  I will have to take a picture of the house in another post.  Anyway this was the 2nd Saturday the family started to work by laying the sod down.  It finally looks like a yard!!! NOTE: click on the collages to see them better. In the upper left is Grandma, Grant and Anne laying the sod down in the morning.  Then Cousin Dan Zappe and Troy are digging out a water run off pipe to be slightly hidden by the grass.  Trey (the groom) is are muscle man carrying one of the sod pieces.  I have carried those before and they are heavy.  Trey and Jessica (the engaged couple) working hard!!! Aunt Marcia (groom's mom) keepi...

Activities at G&G Bart

Image
So far this spring we have gotten in a routine and/or discovered fun things to do at G&G Bart's house. Here are a few things: Gettin' out the kiddie pool any day it is sunny and warm.  The weather has been pretty good and usually it will let up on the rain.  It has been a blast, right after lunch we play for about an hour.  Then by 1:30pm all the kids are either down for a mandatory nap/rest time. The kids love to feed (try to) the cat.  "Jare Bear" likes to dump it outside of the cat bowl. The play set is a huge hit and if I can't find the kids that is where they are playing. Troy taught the kids how to throw rocks into the pond. :)  "Jare Bear" loves to play by Grandpa's shop.  We just have to watch him carefully. We also discovered the neighbors tree house.  Yeah it maybe a few years before our kids can really climb that. "Crazy A" is learning how to ride the scooter. Picking raspberries and eating them is an...

23 weeks/Update on kids

Pregnancy I am so far 23 weeks pregnant tomorrow morning.  Right now I can't get to sleep b/c he is pushing into my right lower stomach and it is hurting so bad.  No matter what way I lay in bed it doesn't help. I haven't really posted much about this pregnancy b/c it hasn't been that much different up until about 4 weeks ago (@ 19 weeks).  I was a little nauseous and tired at the beginning.  Then starting at the second trimester I was really starting to feel good (except for a little bit of lost sleep).  I was even playing basketball and volleyball!!! BUT ever since we started to move or basically life has gotten crazy I am feeling it.  For example, I have experiencing more aches and pains.  (Yes, I know this is my 5th child and I am almost 31 yrs old.  I knew this was coming.)  1. Varicose veins: on my right leg, side of the knee and thigh.  They ache when I have been laying down and then suddenly get up.  They start to b...

Stake Father and Son Campout

Image
This weekend Grandpa Paul was asked to bring his commercial grills to the Stake Father and Son Camp out. Troy and "Jare Bear" joined him in this adventure! The Lake the men and boys camped on.  OH I forgot, it has been beautiful weather here.  The first two days were a little humid but seriously it feels like April weather.  Not a lot of humidity and in the mid to upper 70's. The "enormous" fire the boys created.  It literally had a 20 foot perimeter around it with Caution tape. The Stake set up a screen and projector with a video/fireside tape to watch.  Not sure if "Jare Bear" was really interested. My dad (in the Duke sweatshirt) was asked to bring up his industrial commercial grills to have breakfast on.  Grandpa made those a few years back.  They have been used for many Stake events: Girls Camp, Father and Son Camp outs, Pioneer Treks, Emergency Preparedness fairs, Ward events and etc..   "Jare Bear" enjoying their...

Grandpa Paul's 63rd Birthday

Image
"Jacolena" loves her cousin Hannah (Colette and Daniels).  Of course  Hannah weighs almost as much as "Jacolena" and is 3 years younger. :) Grandpa Paul's Birthday Celebration Posing for the pictures at the Halls house. Not sure what he is eating? The boys lighting the candles and they had to do it quickly before it burned down the cake. Cousin Tessa (8.5 yrs old, in the middle) wasn't feeling so good but still wanted to be in the action with my kids. Birthday Grandpa and the burning cake. Aunt Annie and Cousin Grant. Grandma and "Jacolena".  At this point (Sunday) she was definitely still adjusting to the move and being somewhere different.  She had been Grandma's little leech for a few days. Aunt Colette and cousin Hannah. Cousin Elise getting things ready.  The next day: my kids having a rest time in the afternoon.  It took a few afternoons for Crazy A to get back into the routine of scheduled naps....
