More Working Outside Saturdays

Image
As a child we worked every Saturday as a family, whether it was chores inside or outside, Saturdays were work days. When our work was done we then could play, do things with friends or whatever. But work came first then play. I used to dislike work Saturdays but now as an adult I really appreciate it.  We would never get stuff done if we didn't designate Saturdays as our cleaning/yard work day.   Our kids love to be outside together and work. They love to help in any shape, way or form.  It doesn't last very long with many small children but we still do it.  Especially with the great weather we have been having.   Saturday my parents put in new plants on the front of the house.  Eventually they will be selling the house in a few years and they wanted the landscaping in the front to be changed to look fresh and new. Here is "Jacolena" with her new glasses... they are soooo THICK!!!  AND big.  You can't even see her  tiny no...

Baby D - 4 week check up

Image
Time is flying by, in which I don't mind b/c the early baby stage is hard.  I like it when the babies start to get a on slight schedule, they nurse faster and they start responding to you.  For my babies that has been around 5 weeks old.  Baby D started to smile last week @ 5 weeks old.  It has been great for the other kids b/c they realize he is actually reacting to them.   Baby D had his 4 week check up last week (he was really 5 weeks).  Here are his stats: Weight: 9 lbs 9oz (25th %) Length: 21.5 inches (25th %) Head Circumference: 37 cm (25th %) Right now he wakes up on average one (3ish) time a night.  Goes to bed around 9/10pm and wakes up around 6/6:30ish.  During the day his eating schedule usually is: 6:30ish 9:30ish 12:00ish 3:00ish 5:30/6ish (bottle or breastfed) 9ish (bottle or breastfed) He does have a little bit of reflux and we are going to try some medicine this month to see if that helps.  ...

2012 NC State Fair

Image
For those that do not live in NC or who have never heard of the NC State Fair, it is one of the largest fairs in the country.  It is rated in the top 5 of best State Fairs to go to.  This fair isn't just the sleazy rides and "carny" people... It has a ton of agriculture things: 4-H crafts, baking, canning, quilting, sewing, cross stitching, woodworking, Village of Yesteryear, show animals, garden contest, drag/car racing and many more agriculture type stuff. This is something that I really missed while living in Utah.   As a kid we went EVERY year, it was our family tradition.  Things I missed: fried foods, craft exhibits, tons of stickers to collect,  rides, peanuts, show animals, petting zoo, gardens, grain mill, pig races, clogging, farm equipment, Pork Chop Shop, NCSU ice cream, ALL exhibits and fireworks. This year I didn't want to miss it.  (Evelyn and Rachel, I know I am going to make you homesick but I had to put these pictures up!!!) ...

Rainy Days

Image
Early this week it had been pretty rainy.  Here are some random pictures taken during the rainy days. Look how small he looks next to grandpa Paul. One of Crazy A's favorite things to do after a bath is snuggle with grandma Loanne and watch some tv.  About a 1/3 of the time when she rocks with grandma, she falls asleep.  I love that. :) Precious. Jare Bear wanted to go outside with Crazy A.  He doesn't have any rain-boots b/c he hates wearing anything different.  Crazy A suggested putting Missa's boots on.  He did!!! It took him much longer to get outside b/c he wasn't used to them.  It is very hard for him to try on different or new shoes.  FHE Pumpkin making. On Monday night we draw colored, cut and drew pumpkins as a family.   She really wasn't mad, she doesn't like to smile for pictures.   Except for this guy... he just cut and put tape everywhere. Stay tuned for State Fair Pictures!

Twins 4 yr checkup

Image
Last week the twins had their 4 yr old check up. About a month late but Baby D was born and lots of things were postponed.  "Jacolena" Weight: 30 lb (10th%) Height: 38.25 in (20th%) BMI: 15 (25th%) Speech: She has definitely caught up to her age in this except for the fact when she is in imaginative play she slurs all the words at the end of the sentence.  She is in speech once a week to help with the slurring and comprehension. Comprehension & Temperament:   She is developmentally about a 3.5 yr to almost 4 yr old in this area.  I think she still has Auditory Process Disorder but we are working with her.  Sometimes it is hard to tell if she is getting everything we are saying but I really think it is now stubbornness.   She is usually very easy going and reasonable when not tired.  Plays very well for hours by herself in great imaginative play.  And then also plays well with her siblings and starting to do that with friends....

Gourd & Pumpkin Farm

Image
Yesterday morning we went to a Gourd and Pumpkin Farm with our church Playgroup.  I debated and debated whether it was worth driving to this farm for the price of gas.  Come to find out it was worth it. Fee: $8.00 for me and Crazy A Gas: maybe $4.00 Vehicle: drove my mom's car with the NC Quick Pass (Thank you mom!) Time: 20 minutes on the highway, that isn't too long of a time Total: $12.00, not too bad. Other places it is $10.00 just to get one person in to the pumpkin farms and some of those places are just as far or further. It was just Baby D, Crazy A and me.  The older kids were all at school!!! Baby D stayed asleep the whole time.  Even on the hay ride.  The hay ride was a hit for the kids.  They had a not so spooky haunted forest, just right for kids ages 18 months to 6 years old. Cousin Hannah and Aunt Colette came too.  Crazy A was really excited to see her! The little farm also had a great play area for little kids, with sl...

Pumpkin Patch

Image
The other night for Family Home Evening we wanted to get pumpkins for the porch.  Eventually we will carve them and make them look really good.  We went to this pumpkin patch near our house to help save on gas.  I have never seen such a variety of pumpkins and gourds.  All different of kinds of colors, sizes and shapes!  The kids especially loved throwing them... another good lesson taught to the kids, no throwing pumpkins/gourds.  Hopefully it will stick. Each kid got to pick out there own pumpkin as well as Troy and I.  We did up buying one of these green gourds Missa is posing with.  It is so cool looking. The other weird color was black and Crazy A thought they were the coolest thing. The hardest part was keeping the two girls (Jacolena and Crazy A) from running away.  The wanted to run to the "forest" near the trees.  Troy kept telling me to hurry up and pick a pumpkin but I kept trying to keep the girls from runni...
