Summer Adventures - Doctor Appointments

Image
A day in the life of the "triplets".  Troy wasn't too happy to see Jare Bear dressed as a Queen. :) I don't know if you can't see this well, but Jare Bear does a pretty good job playing out there with Baby D.  Jare Bear just follows him around and annoys his younger brother.  What is so nice about it is Baby D doesn't even care and just ignores him.  I do have to keep an eye out b/c sometimes Jare Bear will open the gate up and the boys will go on a chicken hunt. The four oldest playing "doctor".  The kids have been good at the doctors but can get loud at times. Every week since we have been out of school we have been at the doctors.  For at least three of the kids. Jare Bear and Crazy had bad coughs and colds but are fine now.  Missa... where do I start, she has had a cough/short of breath since the end of April.  I treated it for 3-4 weeks as asthma and then allergies.  Then it wasn't going away and she was complaining of...

Deck Phase II

Image
This past Saturday, Troy recruited my dad and my uncle to help complete Phase II of the deck - the stairs.  it took the afternoon but they finished.    While Troy was cleaning up some of the kids went outside to "work or help".  It was kind of cute how they were measuring the wood, laying out the pieces and et.. Here are the finished steps.  Inbetween the steps we will put in some plants.  We will also put some fast growing trees to shade the deck in the mid-day hours. Revamping of Chore Charts - I did it again, created another chore chart.  We have been through three different types of chore charts .  We have gone back to more simple way of doing things, only 1-2 chores a day is good and not switching.  So I simplified things for the summer to make our life be a little slower but still with some structure.   I also have put up labels on the most used stuff in our house for the "triplets" to start r...

Summer Adventures - Costco/Winstom-Salem/Library

Image
Summer Adventure Place: Costco - we usually go once a month on Friday but I usually don't have all the kids.  This week, we went on Monday - we NEEDED diapers and we got smoothies.  Of course anywhere I go in public I ALWAYS get comments.  Good and bad ones.   Summer Adventure Place: Winstom-Salem I have just a couple of childhood friends that I try to keep in touch with.  One of them is: Jean Bunton Leavitt  We go to the same church, we went to the same pool, we went to the same high school and etc...  For a few years we only could communicate by phone.  Once I moved back to NC and her husband was near the end of his medical schooling (his is an oral-surgeon) we decided we needed to get together. When she comes to visit her parents, we get to visit!  Last year she came to my place and now this year I went to her parent's place.  At first I was really nervous traveling so far with the kids by myself.  I said ...

Another Hospital Stay - June 2014

Image
Here is the chain of events of how we ended up in the Hospital AGAIN: Ever since the Vagus Nerve Stimulator has been placed in "Jacolena" the area has been sensitive and it slightly bulged out of her side.  She is just skinny and we knew from the beginning that this was a "tight" fit. June 6 or 7th: The twins collided (happens a lot) June 11th:  The neurologist saw that the incision area was irritated and got the PA's neurosurgeon to look at it.  She said put Neuosporin on it and call them back on Monday (6/16). June 15th: Father's Day/Troy's Birthday - Troy noticed the VNS protruding out b/c the area had healed from the twins colliding.  Called Resident Pediatric Neurosurgeon on call and they said to come in right away.  We were at a family get together.  I cried and cried b/c I did NOT want to go BACK to the hospital on Troy's birthday and have to leave family when we were having fun. I wanted to wait until Monday b/c Jacolen...

Summer Adventures - Deck Building

Image
And we are off.... to building a stage, a platform  a deck.  My kids played fashion show on the wood that was delivered about 2 days before we get started on our deck last Saturday.  Just love the fashion from Crazy A and Jare Bear.  Almost......... there.......... mom.  Before  During  The missionaries from our church were many of our unpaid labor,  I mean volunteers.  For real though... this was just like a "barn raising".  We had a nice crew of volunteers and got a lot accomplished in one day.   Grandma Loanne with Cousin Evan  Missa showing off the chickens to Cousin Tessa. Cousin Grant helping the cause too with Troy supervising.  The head dude, "stupervisor" or whatever you what to call Grandpa Paul.  Getting the posts ready for the foundation.  The start of the foundation.  Working the mechanics with Grandma Loanne'...
