12 Mile Flat Campground - WVB Reunion

Image
Here are the pictures from the Bartholomew Family Reunion. It was a hard to camp with 4 small kids and not have Troy there. BUT I was very fortunate to have my mom, Colette, Rachel, Sherrie and Annie there to help. They weren't the only ones that helped... their kids, spouses and many cousins did too. This trip was challenging and hard... I don't think I will do this again w/o Troy. :) Enjoy the pictures. Day 1 This day was the hardest. It all started at 5am... Colette and I left for 12 Mile Flat Campground near Mayfield Utah. It was supposed to take us 4 hours approximately but it took much longer. We stopped 4 times for bathroom breaks, food and diaper changes. Troy "goggled" the directions and those directions took us up the wrong canyon. (There were directions on our family website, but did I even notice to look? not!) After traveling up the Six Mile Canyon for an hour, scraping the bottom of the car 6-7 times bad on rocks and till the...

Packing

I have been really busy this past week and weekend. I have been packing and sewing for an extended Bartholomew Reunion (in the Central Utah Mountains) AND spending time with Annie and her family. It has been crazy trying to think of what I need for this trip. Troy is unfortunately not going b/c of school and work. But at least I will be with family (my siblings and parents). We will be an 45 minutes-HOUR away from the main turn off and up the mountains on top of a ridge (10,000ft). So if I forget anything I am in trouble. More pictures to come!

Humor from Troy

So the other day Troy pulled this off the internet. I laughed and asked him if this was a joke. He said no, that this was real and saw it on the original website. I still laughed. I told him this was funny and we laughed. Then he says some of these things actually are really good things for the wife to do. So we went through them and I understand his point on some of them. But the others I thought huh? you really expect me to ALL of this. It actual would help marriages but not all of these things would. (The words in italics are my comments) The Good Wife's Guide From Housekeeping Monthly, 13 May, 1955. View the original article as a graphic Note: This may actually be fake. See Snopes. * Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have be thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home and the prospect of a good meal is ...

The Beach

Image
I need a REAL vacation. As a kid our beach vacation would usually be one day, get up @ 4am, climb into the 15 passage van and head down to the beach. OR it would be to spend the weekend at the Clyde and Crystal Smith's cabin. I loved going to the cabin... but the day trips on the other had weren't as fun. As a kid I never liked getting the sand in my swimsuit and then rising off. I HATED it! But now as an adult, I miss the beach. The last time I went to the beach was for Andy and Alex's wedding, 5 years ago! I miss the relaxing in the chairs, the wind, the sun, visiting historic sights and just not having to do anything (except putting on sunscreen so you don't burn). Every time I see friend's blogs visiting NC and putting up pictures of the beach and NC it makes me sooo homesick. So my next goal is find enough money to go to NC for 3-4 weeks and make a trip home to visit. THEN go to the beach!

Toddler beds and eating, oh my!

Image
My 22 month old twins are officially growing up and I am so happy! I am glad to get rid of pacifiers, bottles and cribs for them. Toddler Beds: Jare Bear slept in his toddler bed for the first time last night (the last 1.5 weeks we have had to move him from behind his door to the bed). Jackie loves her toddler bed and has been in it for 2 months. Eating: AND... Jacolena now eats with a utensil and a plate. She can basically eat on her own, she still makes a little mess but most of it gets in her mouth. On the other hand, Jare Bear likes to be feed. In which I don't mind b/c it is a lot less of a mess to clean up. Speech: Now we need to get to the point of understanding them. My MIL said the other day that Jare Bear sounded like his 12 month old cousin. She's right... he babbles and thinks he is talking just like us and doesn't know it. Jacolena has great articulation but she mutters everything. I get the idea of what she is saying by her facial expressions and ...

Happy Indepedence Day!

Image
I made coordinating outfits for the girls. Worked out pretty well. Wish I could have gotten a better picture but oh well.   Happy 4th from us! This is the best picture I could get with Troy and all the kids. We actually had a really busy weekend and it still isn't over but I didn't have time to get my camera out. We went to my brother's house and spent Friday and Saturday with him. Went to a pool party, picnic at Bridal Veil Falls and relaxed. And tomorrow we are having a BBQ with our neighbors. We also tried to meet up with some friends that were visiting from out of state but it never worked. BUT next time... Tricia we will succeed!   Captain Underpants and Mischevious Missa always up to stuff.
