Christmas at Bartholomew House

Image
I forgot to mention about Christmas. We opened our presents up on Christmas Eve with the Halls, Rachel, Colette and my parents. The gift we got my parents was a digital picture frame so that they can post many pictures to remember all of their kids. Marissa didn't do that great when opening presents because she was tired. She ended up calming down and falling asleep! Yeah!

Jill's Parents Go to Australia

My parents have officially left on their Mission. They will enter the MTC January 1, 2007 and serve for 23 months. They will be Welfare Specialists in the Sydney Australia Mission. We are sad to see them go but excited to see them go to the "land down under". Right now they are visiting Sherrie (my sister) and her family before the depart. We will keep in touch by email, mail and web cams!!!! I am excited to try the web cam out so they can see Marissa grow. I will definitely miss them for 2 years.

Marissa's Blessing

Image
Well we blessed Marissa on December 10, 2006. Troy's parents came into town; & my brother's family came too. She didn't do that great for the blessing, for example: right before Troy got up with her she filled her diaper good! So Troy was nervous that the dirty diaper would get all over the dress. Then she started crying as the formed the circle. It was pretty funny but, Troy couldn't concentrate. After that I had to take her back and change the stinky diaper and feed her. While feeding her the mother's room at church was very cold!!!! Marissa definitely didn't like that. So the day was adventurous but fun. Later that afternoon we had all the family over and had a Sunday lunch. That afternoon Marissa was fine. I think she just likes to "jinx" us.

Marissa's full name

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that her full name is: Marissa Leone Nelson. Leone is pronounced "Lee-own". It is a family name on Troy's mother's side.

Marissa's Birth

Welcome Marissa, She was born Friday, November 24, 2006 at 1:57pm. Thank goodness she waited till after Thanksgiving dinner! Yeah!!!! Marissa was 7lbs, 1oz, 20 inches long with brown eyes and dark brown hair. Troy and I are sooo excited to have her join our family. She was born at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Many family members and friends came to visit us in the hospital (Halls, Bartholomews, Grandma & Grandpa Bartholomew, Nelsons and a friend from work). We were able to come home Sunday, November 26th. All three of us were sooo tired. My mom came over everday the first week to help me get used to being a "mom". The past two weeks have been an adjustment but Troy and I are trying to get used to parenting. Troy's parents are in town and have been wonderful to help out. We still are up every 3-4 hours a night feeding her but she is growing!
