Multiple Nelsons

With every child, Troy has balanced all of them on his hand around this age.  It scares everyone that sees it but he and the child LOVE it.  Baby D is doing this @ 6.5 months old. All of a sudden he just was chillin' on the Boppy. This week has been filed with "catching" up from the Lice incident.  I am still not caught up on laundry and need to change the sheets again.  We retreated Missa (who is the one that had it in the first place) last night and I am hoping we got everyone of those stickin' bugs.  Now we are into Spring Break and we have everyone home.  So far we have had relaxing mornings and have gone places in the afternoons - Costco and the park.  Other places we have planned on the schedule - the Zoo, the Railroad Museum, more parks and playing outside. Cousin Hannah (Colette's little girl) coming to play at our house.

Baby D is six months!!!  Here are his stats: Weight: 15 lbs 9.6 oz (15%) Length: 25.5 inches (10%) Head Circumference: 42.5 inches (20%) Kind of a small guy. Things he can do or starting to do: Starting to sit up with support Smiles a ton Rolling front to back and back to front Eating baby food Sleeping through the night (8/9 pm - 7 am) Takes two naps a day... sometimes a short third nap Grabs the girls and my hair Like his pacifier Starting to make sounds, ba, ma and etc.. LICE This week as I was brushing Missa's hair, I noticed a bug in her hair.   A few weeks ago I spotted the same bug and showed it to my mom and she said to save it and ask the Ped doc.  Yep.. I forgot.  Fast forward to this week.  Then as the morning went on I found another one.  That was it, I started in cleanup mode: Yesterday: Took off all the sheets and put in the laundry Put ALL the towels in the laundry Confiscated all stuffed animals, dress ups and blan...

I wondered the day when we would need to patch one of my kid's eye.  Well "Jare Bear" is the first one... His vision in his right eye is NOT improving b/c of: 1. Lazy eye OR 2. Spinal fluid in behind his eyes (Puesdo Brain Tumor). We will be patching it along with increasing his medicine to keep watching how things go.  So far he doesn't like it but will tolerate it.

In our house that is what happens when you pick your nose too much and cause 3 bad nose bleeds in a day................................................................................... Your fingers get taped so you can't stick them up there!

This week has been hard but helpful.  We started out on Monday morning getting ready for the "week".  I had come up with a detailed scheduled with who was staying with "Jacolena" and who was staying with the other kids, when people would be going back and forth to the hospital to rotate shifts.  It was not just exhausting physically but mentally too. These pictures were taken Thursday night when the family came to visit "Jacolena". Monday Blood drawn for Genetic testing - 11:30 am, there was some confusion with "Jacolena's" b/c they had scheduled the blood to be drawn after she was admitted to the hospital.  The MRI sedation staff wanted her blood drawn before she was admitted.  Took some time but we got it sorted out. MRI @ 12:30 - but they were running an hour and a half late... didn't get in till 2 pm Gluing of Electrodes for EEG - 3:30pm Admitted to room - 5:30pm That night nothing happened b/c they didn't chan...

Miss "Jacolena" is being observed by the Duke Pediatric Neurologist this week to see what they want to do with her 4 different types of seizures.  Yesterday we had blood work done (for Genetics), an MRI and hooked her up with the EEG electrodes.  It took a long time b/c of the 1.5 hour wait for the MRI machine and putting the electrodes on (another 1.5 hours) but we got through it.  She did very good for not having food for 24 hours.    Here she is this morning when my sister, Colette and I were "switching" off schedules.  I have my mom, my two sisters, Troy and I coming every 5-6 hours during the day and staying at night.  During this stay they will reduce her medications to enduce seizures.  This is safe b/c they are constantly monitering her. 

About 2.5 years ago a friend of mine introduced the Essential Oils to me.  I had heard of them but I was very skeptical of them b/c I am a big medicine person.  My kids get sick, we go to the doctor, we get on meds and we get better.  But with "Jacolena's" seizures I was contemplating about other methods - diet, natural or whatever. About 2.5 year ago I went to Kara's (my friend) class and she really recommended a certain oil for Jackie.  At the time I really did want to try but honestly I kept forgetting.  Plus the lady that taught the class was a newer consultant did not know her knowledge about oils vs medicines.  As time went one my friend never gave up on me and kept politely asking me how it worked.  The other problem is that we just didn't have the money, we were on government aid and it was just cheaper to do medications.  Also at the same time one of our therapists had a friend that was an RN and a doTERRA consultant.  So she hel...

His favorite movie right now is "Cars".  If it was his choice he would watch the movie 203 times a day. Her favorite thing right now is to play "people" all around the house, especially in hiding spots the other kids can't find.  I find cars, Littlest Pet Shop, Playmobile and etc all over the house. Her favorite spot is to play on the stairs with her "Pal Pluto" and play in Grandma's sewing room.  Sometimes I forget she is even down there. Her favorite thing right now is to draw pictures.  She probably draws 2-3 pictures a day like the one below.  It can be of anything.  She is a much better artist than me.  His favorite thing is hearing you make a popping sound with your mouth.  He cracks up every time.    Everyone wants to play with Baby D. This is the twins 2012 Sunbeam class in NC.  When we moved in May of last year the twins weren't the only new kids that have moved in.  Two other little girls (on the ends) had moved in/back in the ward within in 2 months of us.  So the class size is HUGE then and now.  Thank you Abby for the picture!

Right as I was starting to write this blog post, a friend of mine put something up on her blog about "Loss of sleep" too.  She has two very young children (6 months old and 18 months old) and I so FEEL for her right now.  I wish I could give my "two cents"  or advice, but honestly even with 5 kids, I don't have any advice.  And with sleep deprivation sometimes you don't care to even want to hear advice. (maybe that is me). Kelley... I really do FEEL for you.  Anyway.... right now and occasional times in the past 9 months the "triplets" (4 yr old twins and almost 3 year old) are nicely waking up between 5 and 6am.  TROY AND I HATE IT .  Not only is THAT happening but Baby D goes back and forth between sleeping through the night (8-6) and waking up between 4-5 to eat, then going back to bed.
